Kosovars convicted of drug trafficking, organised crime

PRISTINA, Kosovo -- A mixed panel of two Kosovo judges and a EULEX judge of the District Court in Pristina sentenced three people Monday (May 30th) in a case related to drug trafficking and organised crime. Defendant Ilaz Kurtaliqi was found guilty of buying 7.5kg of heroin from Faik Mazreku and attempting to smuggle it into Switzerland. Two other people remain at large. Kurtaliqi and Mazreku pleaded guilty and got sentences of six years and nine months and four and a half years respectively. Accomplice Shyhrete Hasani was found guilty and sentenced to 18 months in prison. They were also fined a total of 35,000 euros. (Kohavision, Klan Kosova - 30/05/11)
