Exhibition on innovations opens at Dom Omladine
BELGRADE - An exhibition promoting innovations as a way to progress, organized by the Association of Inventors and Authors of Technical Improvements of Belgrade, opened at Dom Omladine on Tuesday.
"Inventions have to be a basis for Serbia's economic growth, and innovations and latest technological trends should be systematically promoted among young people as bearers of future growth," Chair of the parliamentary committee on economy Aleksandra Tomic said after opening the exhibition.
She noted that inventions and innovations are very important for the country's development, and could also mitigate some adverse consequences of future reforms, as they would encourage people to go from the public to the private sector.
"I see the social responsibility of innovators as a kind of patriotism, as many of them have not gone and sold their inventions abroad, but they were patient and believed that the time will come for their ideas and inventions to take root. When this happens, that will mean we have succeeded," Tomic told inventors and innovators.
Radivoje Janjic, one of organizers of the exhibition, explained that the exhibition is aimed at presenting inventions to public companies so that they could be used for improving operations of utility companies and for bringing the culture of innovation closer to young people.
Dom Omladine is currently offering 20 workshops and seminars from this field free of charge. An IT corner has been set up recently in which young people could learn and improve their skills that should help Serbia emerge from the crisis, the institution's director Marko Stojanovic said.
