Violinist Jovan Kolundzija member of Dostoyevsky academy
BELGRADE - Famous violinist Jovan Kolundzija was appointed member of the Academy of spiritual votaries 'F. M. Dostoyevsky', Guarnerius Fine Arts Centre released on Wednesday.
Members of the Academy include most prominent contemporary artists and scientists, including Umberto Eco, Mario Vargas Llosa, Mikis Theodorakis, Nikita Mikhalkov, Stephen Hawking, Peter Handke as well as Serbia's Vladeta Jerotic, Emir Kusturica and Sinisa Kovacevic.
The Moscow-based Dostoyevsky Academy gathers world's first-class spiritual votaries and the president of the Academy is a famous philosopher and scientist academician Svetislav Jaric and honorary presidents are winners of the Nobel Prize, Yevgeniy Ivanovich Chazov and Joseph Stiglitz, states the release issued by Guarnerius.
Kolundzija is a famous Serbian violinist and one of the most successful violinists from the region.
He completed his academic and master studies at the Academy of Music in the class of professor Petar Toskov and went on to learn from prominent violinist Henryk Szeryng. Kolundzija has held over 4,000 concerts worldwide.
On March 14, the concert in Barcelona will be the first in a series of Kolundzija's guest appearances in Europe this year. He should take part in a number of prestigious festivals.
In 2001, Kolundzija founded the Centre of Fine Arts Guarnerius which soon became his artistic endowment where he teaches young talents.
