Vucic: I do not expect protests, Serbs have grown wiser
KRAGUJEVAC - Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic believes that Serbia will preserve stability and will not face civil protests as was the case in the countries in the region, and promised that the government would fight for a better economy in the way it is combating corruption and crime.
“Serbs have grown wiser than before, and it is a fact, and I am not saying this because of myself or the elections we have called, I am saying this because of our country,” Vucic said and added that Serbia made progress in terms of political stability over the past year and a half.
Commenting on the statement by Deputy President of the United Regions of Serbia (URS) Veroljub Stevanovic that Serbia will face civil protests in case the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) wins in the elections, Vucic said that it is up to the people to decide on this matter.
“We will stage the elections and citizens shall decide whether they are satisfied or not and state whom they want as their leader,” Vucic told reporters in Kragujevac where he opened the Comtrade company regional software development centre.
The situation in Serbia is very difficult, but I promise that the state will fight for a better economy in the same way it is fighting against corruption and crime, Vucic said.
