Djilas: DS wants Serbian scenario
BELGRADE - Democratic Party (DS) leader Dragan Djilas has said that the DS will never hope for the Ukrainian scenario or the North Korean one, where one hundred percent of people vote for one man, but it rather wishes a Serbian scenario.
“We want our, Serbian scenario, the one in which people in Serbia have jobs, and where everyone is equal regardless of their nationality, creed and sexual orientation,” Djilas said at the DS final rally in Belgrade on Wednesday evening for the early parliamentary elections on Sunday.
“The only weapon that we know for is a pencil, and therefore I urge you to vote for a more beautiful and decent Serbia. We are standing the elections with an intention to win, and you who are here tonight have shown that fear cannot govern Serbia, and that we are the past, present and future of this country,” he underlined.
The DS leader criticized the ones who left the DS a month before the elections, stressing that there is no new democratic party, but there is only one.
“It is not as if we want anything bad to happen, but we do not have the right to remain silent,” Djilas underlined, adding that the DS is not warning only the ruling parties, but also the opposition of what may happen.
He said that only a vote for the DS is a vote against the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
The rally was also addressed by DS Political Council President Dragoljub Micunovic, who said that the essence of democracy, which has existed for 2,000 years, is that it should prevent the rule of a single man, and today we are being persuaded that our future lies in the hands of one man.
