CeSID: SNS wins majority in parliament
BELGRADE - According to preliminary data, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) won around 50 percent of the votes at the snap parliamentary election on Sunday, the coalition led by the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) got around 15 percent, while the Democratic Party (DS) and the New Democratic Party (NDS) were the only other parties to cross the election threshold.
"The SNS will have absolute majority," CeSID Executive Director Marko Blagojevic stressed, adding that it would translate into around 160 seats for the SNS out of the total of 250 in the national parliament.
The coalition led by the SPS can count on around 50 seats, Blagojevic noted.
The DS is currently ahead of the NDS, with both winning 5-6 percent of the votes.
The Liberal Democratic Party and the United Regions of Serbia will probably not reach the election threshold, Blagojevic stated.
