Berbatov Shines with Goal, 2 Assists for Monaco
Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov was instrumental in his team Monaco’s victory against Lyon in the French League 1 on Sunday.
Monaco defeated Lyon 3:2 away, with Berbatov playing a part in each goal for his team. He assisted for Germain and Rodriguez’s goals in the first half, before the home team pulled one goal back.
In the 52nd minute, Berbatov scored to restore his team’s two-goal lead. However, video replays showed clearly that the striker had been offside at the moment of the pass, something the referees failed to call.
Briand scored his second goal of the match for Lyon in the 78th minute, but it proved not enough for at least a draw.
Dimitar Berbatov was also selected for a second straight week in the league’s ideal team – a ranking based on the performances of all players throughout the round.
Monaco remain 2nd with 62 points after 29 matches. Their title chances are slim, due to Paris Saint Germain’s comfortable 8-point lead at the moment.
