Kacin: Strong gov’t that will change Serbia is called for
BELGRADE – European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia Jelko Kacin said that Serbia should get a strong, operational and capable government that is ready to change the country and create the conditions necessary for investment and job creation.
The sooner this happens the better, but if that is impossible, then it is better to take a month longer to reach a deal, and then go on to change Serbia with a strong determination in order to create the conditions for foreign investment and job creation so Serbia could be transformed and start moving ahead, Kacin told Tanjug.
Given that big changes have been announced, expectations are also high, Kacin said.
Therefore, things cannot be delayed any more, since the European Commission’s role in helping the realization of these expectations depends on the speed of developments in Serbia.
The enthusiasm of the EU is conditional on how fast Serbia will show its sincere willingness and commitment to pursuing the announced reforms, as the Union has other priorities as well, the rapporteur said.
European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia Jelko Kacin has said that he expects Serbia to bring its position regarding Ukraine closer to the one taken by the European Union.
When it comes to the Ukraine issue, I hope that Serbia will understand what it is all about and that it will take a position similar to the one taken by the European Union, Kacin told Tanjug.
“Montenegro has done it already,” he added.
EU and interim Ukrainian government representatives signed the Stabilization and Association Agreement in Brussels on Friday.
Kacin took part in a meeting of the Slovenian Business Club at Belgrade’s IN Hotel on Thursday.
