Prosecutor: No discs documenting Šarić's meetings
BELGRADE -- Organized Crime Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljević says his office has not received discs allegedly including footage of Darko Šarić's meetings with politicians.
Šarić is suspected of masterminding a drug smuggling operation and heading a crime group, and has been in custody in Belgrade since Tuesday.
The prosecutor added that his office "does not want to deal with any speculation, but rather only with evidence and facts."
“I am a prosecutor, and I deal with evidence and facts, not speculations. I do not have in my possession any documents with such content and they have not been delivered to the Prosecutor's Office, and we shall see if someone will submit them and whether they exist at all,” Radisavljević told Belgrade-based PRVA TV on Thursday.
Asked when Šarić will be questioned in a case concerning revealing official secrets, where Branko Lazarević, former head of the Interior Minister Ivica Dačić's office, has already been questioned, Radisavljević said that a trial in the narcotics smuggling case where Šarić is the main suspect will take the whole of next week, and he will be questioned as a witness in the other case only if time permits.
Asked if Šarić will be questioned in the proceedings against businessman Miroslav Mišković, the prosecutor said that a decision about it should be made at a later time.
Radisavljević said that a guilty plea agreement is one of the possibilities, something that needs to be offered by either the prosecutor or the accused.
