Police agency member kills woman, commits suicide

SARAJEVO -- A member of a special unit of Bosnia's SIPA agency has committed suicide after murdering one person and wounding another.

Rasim Pljevljak of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) took his own life on Monday as the Sarajevo Canton police attempted to take him into custody.

Late on Saturday, he shot and killed Sadeta Alomerović and wounded her brother Samed Alomerović.

The incident in Sarajevo was reportedly motivated by "money, debt, and jealousy."

The police had Pljevljak surrounded in the Stojčevac neighborhood, but failed to make the arrest as the suspect chose to commit suicide.

According to eyewitnesses, quoted by Banja Luka's Glas Srpske daily, Pljevljak shot and killed his victim as she was trying to escape after an altercation, and then wounded her brother, who tried to intervene.
