Four Bulgarian Parties to Enter EU Parliament, Socialists Lead - Poll

Four Bulgarian parties would win seats in the European Parliament if the elections were now, according to the latest survey of Sova Harris agency.

The ruling Socialist Party (BSP) increases its lead over the main opposition center-right GERB Party. The Socialists would receive 21.9% in the Euro-vote, while GERB would come second with 20.6%, the survey shows.

The other two parties that would gain MEP seats are the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), 7%, and the new Bulgaria Without Censorship of former journalist Nikolay Barekov, with 6.6%.

The Reformist Bloc, a coalition of democrats, sees a considerable fall during March, down from 4.5% to 3.1%. The ultranationalist Ataka party also registers a decline, from 2.7% to 2.3%.

As in February’s survey, once again European Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva remains the politician with a highest approval rating.
