Udovicic: We will create best conditions for Serbian sports
UZICE - Serbian Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovicic stated at a panel in Uzice on Monday that the transformation and privatisation in sports would be carried out efficiently and that the government will also provide assistance in the process.
According to Udovicic, the goal is to privatise professional sports clubs and invest the government funds in junior, amateur, recreational and school-based sports.
“We wish to draw the attention of the young to the importance of sports,” Udovicic said.
The minister underscored that there is clear political will to launch privatisation process for sports clubs and announced that the government will provide assistance in the matter too.
“Government assistance will still be necessary for small clubs which cannot provide their own funding. We are aware of this and we cannot make the cut overnight,” Udovicic said.
He announced modernisation in the entire system of Serbian sports.
“Modernisation is necessary, not only because of Serbian sports and youth but also because we need to relieve the pressure on the budget and the functioning of sports. We need to create best possible conditions for Serbian clubs to produce results and give rise to new champions. This can be achieved through amendments to relevant laws, work on property transformation and sport strategy,” Udovicic stated.
He underscored that the efficiency of the forthcoming tasks depends on the economy, Privatisation Agency and relevant ministries.
