Pak Stankovic: Nikolic to name Vucic as PM-designate
BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic will nominate the leader of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Aleksandar Vucic as Prime Minister-designate in the new government, presidential advisor Stanislava Pak Stankovic said on Thursday.
After the constitutive session of the new parliament, President Nikolic will confer with the representatives of all parties and nominate Vucic, leader of the party that won the elections, as the Prime Minister-designate, she said.
Pak told a press conference that the president is not interfering in the choice of ministers, that is, the government makeup.
The coalition around SNS scored a convincing victory in the early parliamentary elections on March 16 and won 48.35 percent of votes and 158 MP seats.
This means that the party can constitute the government on its own but SNS leader Vucic announced that he is open to talks with all those willing to implement the coalition's program, including minority parties.
