Zeman: Kosovo army is armed KLA
BELGRADE - The establishment of the Kosovo army would mean rearmament of members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), which carried out terrorist actions during the war in Kosovo, Czech President Milos Zeman stated.
Given that the KLA committed a number of terrorist actions in the former Yugoslavia during the war conflicts, I would be afraid of an independent Kosovo army, as it would be nothing but an armed KLA, Zeman told Czech reporters on Wednesday.
Zeman said that the KLA disbandment was one of the requests in the peacekeeping negotiations, the Czech media reported.
Noting that Zeman has been the opponent of Kosovo's independence for a long time, the Czech media quoted him saying that Kosovo, which has not been recognized by a number of countries, is a very strange country to say the least.
This is a country where drug mafia has a great influence, Zeman said, and as yet another proof of his negative stance towards an independent Kosovo he, the same as his predecessor Vaclav Klaus, did not appoint a Czech ambassador to Kosovo.
The Czech president told reporters that the KLA has been suspected of human organ trafficking since 2008, and in 2010 these allegations were presented in the Council of Europe report by Dick Marty.
