61st short film festival concludes by award delivery
BELGRADE - The 61st Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival ended in Belgrade late on Sunday by the repeated screening of best films and the award delivery ceremony, as the Grand Prix went to film 'Buhar' (Vanished Into Blue) by Turkish director Abdurrahman Oner.
The competition programme gathered 53 foreign and 31 local films.
The unilateral decision on the best films was adopted by the jury chaired by Swiss director Barbara Miller also comprising Denmark's filmology expert Cecilie Jorck, Ukrainian film critic Andrei Alferov, Serbian director Nikola Majdak and actress Hana Selimovic.
The golden plaquette of Belgrade for the best film of the international competition programme went to 'Butter lamp' by Chinese director Wei Hu and among local films, 'The Bag' (Torba) by Marko Sopic won the title.
The golden plaquette of Belgrade for the best foreign documentary went to Oliver Schwarz for his film 'Dream Girl' and Alain Escalle claimed the title of the best foreign experimental film for his film 'The Book of the Dead'.
The golden plaquette of Belgrade for the best local documentary was not delivered and the medal for the best animated film went to Chris Busuttil for 'Second Chance'. Irina Decermic won the medal for short feature film for her 'Last variation' and Salise Hughes claimed the title of the best experimental film for her 'Yugoslavian Home Movies'.
Since April 2, the festival presented a total of 135 documentaries, short features, animated and experimental films from around the world. The films were screened at Dom Omladine, the Cultural Centre of Belgrade and the Fontana cinema.
