PKS chief satisfied with Vučić's program
BELGRADE -- Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) President Željko Sertić says the measures presented Aleksandar Vučić are "very good for the economy."
He added that the future prime ministers' planned measures "contain everything that the economy called for."
"That is a very big thing for the economy that is creating jobs. The state lives off taxes and all other things that are allocated from companies' profits," Sertić told RTS.
He noted that the announced measures, if realized, would contribute to equating those working for private firm and public enterprises.
"For businessmen to carry their share of the responsibility, the state has to set the conditions that will be conducive to business," he said.
Sertić said that amendments to the Law on Labor and the Law on Planning and Construction "will have to bring about a new quality, the former by affirming work, and the latter by facilitating the issuance of permits."
He welcomed the announcement that public enterprises will not be fiefdoms of political parties any more, but underscored the need for introducing measures and principles of work in the state-owned enterprises on the model of the ones in Western Europe.
"We are all aware of the situation that there is a large number of people at public enterprises doing nothing or acting as if they were protected with some particular laws. They are acting haughtily and irresponsibly, and an end must be put to that kind of approach as the economy cannot endure it," Sertić concluded.
