Vucic: Serbia will have small but efficient government
BELGRADE- The Serbian Progressive Party's (SNS) presidency reached a decision Monday to create a coalition government with the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) and to let SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic conduct talks with other parties about possible expansion of the ruling coalition.
After the SNS presidency meeting, the SNS leader said that the new government will be elected by April 27 and that it will have no more than 17 members.
Serbia will have a small, modern and efficient government,” said Vucic, adding that Serbian MPs' mandates will be verified on April 16 and the parliament is to discuss the bills on the government and ministries on April 24.
The SNS Main Board should sit on April 25, the vote on amendments is to take place the next day and the Serbian government is to be elected on the day after that, Vucic said.
“There is a likely prospect that SPS leader Ivica Dacic will be in the government,” Vucic said, noting that the leader of the New Democratic Party Boris Tadic said that he did not want to be part of a government that includes Dacic. Vucic also added that he will “make the decision which will be put forward to the Main Board."
"I will not force anyone to enter the government,” said Vucic, adding that he is not interested in disagreements but wants a government that works as a team.
The government will include five or seven non-partisan figures, SNS leader said.
In the early parliamentary election on March 16, SNS won a convincing majority of 158 out of 250 seats in the Serbian parliament.
