Dikovic: All tasks carried out responsibly

UZICE - Over the past year, the Serbian Armed Forces carried out all their tasks in a conscientious, responsible and disciplined manner, Serbian Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic said on Wednesday.

"The members of the armed forces are used to this and we know no other way of working," Dikovic said at a ceremony marking the Serbian Armed Forces Day.

"We work, we are frugal and we protect - mostly peace in the country, but in the world as well," he said at the ceremony held in downtown Uzice, also attended by many citizens and senior state and military officials.

The ceremony was attended by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and outgoing Defence Minister Nebojsa Rodic.

Also attending were outgoing Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, Minister of Energy Zorana Mihajlovic, Foreign Minister Ivan Mrkic, diplomats and representatives of religious communities.

The Serbian Armed Forces celebrate their day on April 23 to commemorate the day of the 1815 Second Serbian Uprising, the turning point in the emergence of the modern Serbian state and armed forces.
