Ethnic Albanian party "willing to work with new govt."

BELGRADE -- Riza Halimi says his Party of Democratic Action is interested in becoming a direct actor in solving the problems of Albanians in southern Serbia.

"We have no pretension to participate directly in the government but we are interested to, via the new government, become a direct partner in solving everyday problems of Albanians in Bujanovac, Preševo, and Medveđa," Halimi said after consultations with President Tomislav Nikolić, held on Thursday in Belgrade.

Halimi added that to this end, his party was "willing to work with the government, and support it. "

He said he expected an invitation from the future prime minister, Aleksandar Vučić, to hold talks, where he plans to present the party's platform for solving the problems faced by ethnic Albanians.

Halimi announced that "in the coming days," the party will talk with Vučić "about our concrete problems."
