Kacin welcomes forming of new government
BRUSSELS - European Parliament (EP) Rapporteur for Serbia Jelko Kacin has welcomed the expeditious setting up of Serbia’s new government and voiced expectation that structural reforms will help the country achieve a speedy economic recovery.
Serbia is facing major economic challenges and I find it encouraging to know that the prime minister spoke about implementation of structural reforms as a priority while addressing the parliament, Kacin said in a press statement late on Sunday.
He said that he expects rapid and palpable progress in Serbia's accession negotiations with the EU, as that will give impetus to economic recovery and creation of a business climate favorable for foreign investment.
The rule of law is a central and crucial aspect of EU membership negotiations, Kacin said, adding that Serbia can count on EP’s and European Commission’s support in judiciary reform implementation.
The final outcome, however, depends on the efforts by the new government, he added.
I am confident that Serbia can have everyone surprised if it shows full commitment to this process, Kacin said.
