Vinca Institute to open its doors to visitors

BELGRADE - The Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences, situated in the village of Vinca, 15 km east of downtown Belgrade, will be open to all visitors on May 8-9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of the traditional Vinca Open Doors event.

Visitors will be able to find out the results of modern scientific research in physics, chemistry, biology, environmental protection, radiation protection, thermal engineering and energy as well as in accelerator science, the Institute said in a statement.

As in the previous five years, researchers of the Institute will organise a series of lectures, experiments and tours of the Institute's laboratories and announce new science workshops for high-school students.

"It is regrettable that the broader public is unaware of the fact that, for 66 years now, the Vinca Institute has been making a special contribution to both educational and economic progress of this country. Therefore, our communication with young people is vital for maintaining that progress", the Institute's Assistant Director Bojan Radak said.
