Stefan Fuele meets Serbia's leaders on Monday

BELGRADE - EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele will visit Serbia on Monday and meet with the country's top officials.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic will meet Fuele at the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic and the two will afterwards give statements for the media, the presidential press service has said.

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will meet Fuele at the government headquarters, while the joint news conference will be held at Villa Bokeljka, the government office for media relations has announced.
"This visit is important for the future of the talks between Serbia and the EU. A meeting of foreign ministers of EU countries and the Western Balkans will be held in Thessaloniki three days later, where Fuele and EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger will be present," Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has said.

The visits by high ranking EU officials indicate how significant Serbia is to the EU, Dacic told Radio and Television of Serbia, adding that the country strategic goal was to move forward the accession talks in the fastest and best way possible.

It raises the question of whether the second intergovernmental conference with the EU will be held in June, he noted.
"The second question is how far we have moved forward with the screenings, that is what are the chances of opening certain chapters," Dacic pointed out, adding that he would meet Fuele on Monday.

Fuele will also meet ministers Nikola Selakovic, Nebojsa Stefanovic and Jadranka Joksimovic, Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic and heads of the party groups in the parliament.
