Vojvodina win Serbian football cup
BELGRADE - Vojvodina Novi Sad won the Serbian football cup by beating title holders Jagodina 2-0 (1-0) in late Wednesday's final in Belgrade.
Vojvodina's Alivodic and Babic scored the goals in the 40th and 52nd minutes.
In their fifth cup final in the past eight years, the Novi Sad outfit won their first-ever cup title, also their first trophy since 1989, when they became champions of Yugoslavia.
Vojvodina came away victorious after last season's 1-0 cup final defeat to Jagodina, who won their first-ever trophy.
Coach Branko Babic's team also won a RSD 10 million prize awarded by the Football Association of Serbia (EUR 1 = RSD 116).
Before the cup final game, a minute of silence was observed for the late Vujadin Boskov, a legend of Serbian and Yugoslav football, who died on April 27 in Novi Sad.
