Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic announced building of cheap flats the price of which would be by even four times lower than the cheapest flats being in construction today.

According to his words a flat of 80 square meters that would be built by the Arab company the Arabtec Construction LLC would be possible to buy on credit with a monthly installment of only 120 to 130 Euros and an interest rate of 3.2 percent. That is less than the actual rent for that big flat. He told the Nedeljnik weekly that 100,000 such flats could be built in Serbia.

 

As the Prime Minister explained for our newspaper 'the procedures regarding construction of these flats might begin immediately and the first flats might be finished until the end of 2015'.

 

- All citizens shall be in position to buy these flats as well as the employees in the state administration. The goal is to start the construction industry in Serbia in motion. I got an offer from the Arabtec according to which this company could build flats at a very favorable conditions. The same conditions would be offered to domestic companies, too – Vucic says for the Blic.

 

According to calculation made by the Blic, a flat that Vucic is talking about would cost 46,800 Euros. When bank interests are deducted the price of a flat of 80 square meters would be 31,000 Euros. This means that the price of a square meter would be 387 Euros only. For comparison purposes, a square meter of a flat at the Stepa Stepanovic residential bloc in Belgrade costs now 1,290 Euros with the VAT. A credit for these flats with 30 years of repayment might be granted to anyone with a minimal pay of 230 Euros. According...
