Mayor promises support to ambassadors of women's sports

BELGRADE - Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali conferred on Wednesday with taekwondo athletes Milica Mandic and Tijana Bogdanovic and kayak riders Nikolina and Olivera Moldovan and promised support to them so that they could win medals at the Brazil Olympics in 2016.

The London Olympics champion Milica Mandic recently won the silver medal at the European Senior Taekwondo Championships in Azerbaijan and Bogdanovic claimed gold at the taekwondo junior world championship in Chinese Taipei.

The Moldovan sisters won a K2 silver medal at the World Cup in Milan.

”It is a great satisfaction to be the mayor of the city represented by the female athletes,” Mali said at the reception hosted in the Belgrade City Assembly.

The mayor said that the City of Belgrade would do all it can to make sure the female athletes continue their path of success, and underscored that the city budget will be adopted in June which will envisage funds for support to the women's sports.

”The girls have shown that they are the best ambassadors of women's sports,” Mali noted.
