Bulgaria to Allocate Over BGN 3 B to Regional Development in 2014-2020
A total of over BGN 3 B will be allocated to regional growth in the new programming period 2014-2020, according to Bulgarian Regional Development Minister Desislava Terzieva.
Terzieva, as cited by the BGNES news agency, emphasized that a total of EUR 262 M had been earmarked for financial instruments for residential buildings and a total of EUR 270 M had been earmarked for improving the urban environment under the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development priority axis.
She made clear that EUR 107 M would be allocated to 67 municipalities under a priority axis aimed at improving educational infrastructure.
Terzieva pointed out that a total of EUR 163 M had been earmarked for public sports and cultural infrastructure, while EUR 143 M had been earmarked for integrated urban transport under the Regional Growth Operational Program.
She noted that a total of EUR 115 M would be allocated to investments in education under the second priority axis, regional educational infrastructure.
Terzieva specified that the aim of the EU funding was to create conditions for modern educational services, adding that the beneficiaries of the program would be the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as a number of universities and municipalities.
Bulgaria's Regional Development Minister said that a total of BGN 84 M had been earmarked for regional health infrastructure and for improving the conditions for adequate medical assistance.
