Serbian defence minister thanks Russia for help

BELGRADE - Serbian Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu and thanked him for the Russian help to Serbia in catastrophic floods.

I would like to express our profound gratitude, if it were not for the help of brotherly Russia, the consequences of the floods would certainly be much greater, Gasic said at the meeting with Shoigu on the sidelines of the International Security Conference in Moscow.

Gasic thanked Shoigu, stressing that as Russia's former emergency situations minister, he contributed to the opening of the Serbian-Russian center for reaction in emergency situations in Nis, which facilitated the work of Russian rescuers.

Shoigu said that additional dynamics has been achieved in the two countries' military cooperation in the previous years, and expressed hope that the cooperation will keep the momentum.

I am certain that we will manage to do it, Soigu said.
