Voter turnout in the Sunday's elections for the European Parliament in Romania as of 1 p.m. EEST was 12.54 percent, according to data released by the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC).
Urban area turnout was 12.09 percent and rural area 13.15 percent.
According to the Bureau, 11.30 percent of the voters had cast their ballot in the Capital. Turnout in Bucharest District 1 was 14.42 percent, in District 2 — 11.83 percent, in District 3 — 10.18 percent, in District 4 — 11.69 percent, in District 5 — 8.49 percent and in District 6 — 11.96 percent.
High voter turnout was recorded in the southern counties of Olt at 17.62 percent, Dambovita at 15.92 percent, Ilfov at 15.69 percent, Teleorman at 15.31 percent and Mehedinti, in the south-west at 15.30 percent.
Lower turnout was seen in Maramures (northern Romania) at 9.02 percent, western Timis at 9.94 percent and Arad — 10.27 percent, Ialomita (southern Romania) — 10.47 percent and eastern Iasi — 10.77 percent.
The Bureau announced that voter turnout as of 1 p.m. in Sunday's Euro-polls was as follows: the counties of Alba — 13.80 pct, Arad—10.27 pct, Arges — 14.14 pct, Bacau—13.74 pct, Bihor—12.07 pct, Bistrita — Nasaud — 11.73 pct, Botosani — 12.70 pct, Brasov—12.53 pct, Braila — 12.78 pct, Buzau — 10.95 pct, Caras-Severin—12.08 pct, Calarasi — 12.73 pct, Cluj — 10.86 pct, Constanta — 12.29 pct, Covasna — 11.27 pct, Dambovita — 15.92 pct, Dolj — 14.45 pct, Galati — 13.79 pct, Giurgiu — 13.71 pct, Gorj — 13.47 pct, Harghita — 14.01 pct, Hunedoara — 14.54 pct, Ialomita — 10.47 pct, Iasi — 10.77 pct, Ilfov — 15.69 pct, Maramures — 9.02 pct, Mehedinti — 15.30 pct, Mures—11.18 pct, Neamt — 12.05 pct...
