Until June 3, the audience shall have the opportunity to watch nine plays in competition program of the 59th Sterija Pozorje. In the international competition program 'Circle' there shall be three plays.
In the situation when Serbia is affected by disastrous flooding, the festival shall not be held in festive atmosphere. It shall be opened by Nebojsa Dugalic and the first play in the program of the National Drama and Theatre will be 'A Profitable Place' of the Yugoslav Drama Theatre.
A special interest is in the play 'Princip (This Grave Is Small to Me)' by the Schauspielhaus from Vienna (May 31). The 'Madam Minister' play by the Bosko Buha Theatre and 'Kostana' of the National Theatre from Subotica are expected to quailify for awards due to exciting theatre language and high artistic level. On the evening of presentation of awards, the Gavela Theatre of Zagreb is to play the 'Crime and Punishment'.
In the selection made by Igor Bojovic, the following plays are also in competition: 'A Mounrful Family' of the Republic of Srpska National Theatre from Banjaluka, 'Mrs Olga' of the National Theatre from Sombor, 'Neoplanta' of the Novi Sad Theatre, 'Bizzar' of the National Theatre from Belgrade and Sabac Theatre and finally the 'Trpele' of the Belgrade Drama Theatre.
Within the 'Cirle' competititon program audience shall have the opportunity to watch 'Storm Still' of the Slovenian National Theatre from Ljubljana, then 'Everyman Djilas' of the Montenegrin National Theatre of Pdgorica and 'The Erased' of the Presern Theatre of Kranj.
