People's Movement Party to hold congress on June 7

The People's Movement Party (PMP) will hold its first congress on June 7, PMP Vice President Eugen Tomac announced on Friday.

PMP is open to the idea of setting up a right-wing coalition, on certain conditions, but it does not take a merger with any party into consideration, Eugen Tomac said after the meeting of the party's National College.

"We shall hold our first congress on June 7 to elect the party president, vice presidents, secretary general and the two vice secretaries general and to present the structure of the National Executive Council, the structure that will lead the People's Movement Party and will be made up of 24 members, the party president included," Eugen Tomac said.

"The People's Movement is open to the idea of a right-wing coalition, but on certain conditions. We believe that the right-wing forces need a platform to move forward the political line PMP is promoting. Secondly, PMP does not take a merger with any party into consideration, we are open to discussions and we believe a right-wing platform is needed, but we want no merger if these are the terms," the PMP president declared.

He said that a third point of the Resolution regards the fact that "the political line that has to be included in a center-right platform is required to support what PMP is promoting: an independent justice, assuming firmly and clearly the continuation of the fight against corruption, depoliticizing the state institutions."

"And, an extremely important aspect regarding our positioning, a clear pro-Western political line, the strategic partnership with the U.S. and deepening the integration process in the EU institutions. We consider these points are extremely important for defining a credible right-wing platform,"...
