Vucic: Our goal is EU and not choice between Moscow and Brussels

I do not have an impression that Serbia shall have to choose between Brussels and Moscow since our goal is the EU, Vucic told the German ‘Bild’ and Swiss ‘Blick’, the dailies with the largest circulation.

The ‘Blic’ daily got the exclusive right to publish in its issue Vucic’s interview given to those newspapers. Vucic said that regarding relations with Russia, ‘Serbia is in a different situation than that of Ukraine which yet to separate from Russia’.

Mr. Prime Minister, Serbia is faced with a similar question as Ukraine: to become a member of the EU or keep close ties with Moscow. What shall be your decision?

- Our relations with Russia are completely in order and normal. But our most important goal at this moment is joining the EU and the soonest possible. Europe – that is our path. That is why we shall do everything necessary and there is no looking back! It is clear to me that the path I am talking about is not going to be easy. There is a lot of homework to be done in the sphere of political, economic and social reforms. We have to learn to think in a quite different way. However, I am sure that in four or five years the major part of our job shall be accomplished. Then it shall be on Germany and other countries to decide if they want us in the EU or not.
