Stanoevici: Promoting Romanian language, cultural identity is Romanian state's priority

Minister-delegate for the Romanians Everywhere Bogdan Stanoevici said during an official visit to Austria on June 13-15 that the promotion of the Romanian language, the preservation and cultural promotion of the Romanian national identity is a priority of the Romanian state, a release to AGERPRES says on Monday.

According to it, Stanoevici stressed there is need to provide as great as possible visibility to the contribution made by Romanian culture to the common European cultural heritage.

The minister met representatives of the Austrian-based Romanian communities and Romanian-born Austrians, members of the associations and of Vienna-based Romanian Orthodox Church as well as the head of the Integration Department with the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Dr. Stefan Steiner.

During a visit to Graz, Stanoevici discussed with members of Aut Pro Rom association and Romanians living in Knittelfeld about the projects initiated by them for the promotion of the Romanian values and for preserving the national identity and the Romanian language and culture.

'Minister Stanoevici hailed the organisation of cultural events in collaboration and with the support of the Austrian local authorities, which offers good visibility to the events in the Austrian society. He said the cultural dialogue between communities that mutually understand and respect their differences and traditions must be fostered', the release said.

The Romanian official also attended the events organised by Mihai Eminescu Cultural Association to commemorate 125 years since the great poet Eminescu's death. AGERPRES
