Thessaloniki seaman in critical condition after port explosion

A sailor working at the port of Piraeus was taken to hospital on Tuesday after suffering serious burns in an explosion on a water-skimming vessel.

The seaman, whose details have not been made public, is in critical condition, the state-run Athens-Macedonia News Agency reported.

The cause of the blast, which sparked a fire on the Tasos 2 vessel that skims oil off the surface of the water, is being investigated.
