Messinia man accused of robbing 29 churches and cemeteries

A 39-year-old man accused of committing 29 robberies at churches and cemeteries in the broader region of Messinia in the southwestern Peloponnese is due to face a prosecutor on Thursday.

The suspect is believed to have stolen cash, religious icons and other valuable items in a string of robberies starting in August last year.

He is also believed to have enlisted the help of his two daughters, aged 11 and 15, to act as lookouts.
