Giving up by Cibona takes Red Star to European elite and Partizan to qualifications Euroleague takes Red Star back

What the Red Star Basketball Club has failed to do on the court within the ABA League competition, it managed to get at the ‘green table’, as announced by the Euroleague principal office in Barcelona.

The champion of the Adriatic League, the Cibona sent a letter to the members of the Euroleague informing them not to have managed to solve the problem of debts and therefore would not be in position to compete in the Euroleague although it had won the B License.

 

The Euroleague has transferred this license onto the Red Star directly as a club that won the first position in the league part of the season.

 

This outcome takes the Partizan into qualifications

 

- If this proves to be true, then this is yet another confirmation that we are on the right path and the best proof that the top officials of the Euroleague respect our work. We are completely ready to participate in the competition. I think this is a great thing for us all and for the Serbian basketball. It means we have managed to earn trust by the Euroleague which recognized our transparent financial dealing, fulfillment of all standards, great interest by our audience, partnership relation in impeccable organization of qualification tournaments for juniors for years, etc. – the Red Star President Nebojsa Covic said.
