Romania backs Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine in EU integration moves

It was only a last-minute problem that prevented the premier of Ukraine to be here with us. The support of the Romanian government for the democratic development, pro-European track and integrity of Ukraine stays equally true as it does for Georgia and Moldova', Ponta said at the end of a meeting with his counterparts in the Republic of Moldova Iurie Leanca, Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, Slovakia Robert Fico, the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka and Serbia Alexandar Vucic held in the Danube Delta. Georgian Prime Minister Garibashvili underscored that his country's European track is 'irrevocable' and said Romania is not only 'a bridge linking Georgia to the European Union, but also a strong friend'. Moldovan Premier Iurie Leanca praised the 'sincere and open' talks about the regional challenges and solutions and about the relation with the European Union. 'The talks held here enable us to have enough strength to implement the agreement to be signed next week and one that is extraordinarily important to the future of the Republic of Moldova', Leanca pointed out.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta, during a visit to this eastern Romania city on Sunday, reiterated Romania's support for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine.
