Serbian 21st century knights presented at Cajetina

CAJETINA , ZLATIBOR - The “Knight of Serbia“ achievement award, given to prominent figures from various spheres of public life, was presented on Saturday evening at Mt. Zlatibor during the 6th St. Vitus Day festival.

This year, the award went to seven distinguished individuals whose exceptional achievements earned them a nomination by their colleagues, which makes the award even more special.

Aleksandar Gatalica was awarded the title of knight of Serbian literature, Professor Vaso Antunovic is the knight of Serbian medicine, Dejan Petrovic the knight of Serbian music, Ljiljana Blagojevic the knight of Serbian acting, Vladimir Dunjic the knight of Serbian painting, Dusan Savic the knight of Serbian sports and Rade Ljubojevic the knight of Serbian economy.

The ceremony was held at the Zlatibor Mona Hotel, under the patronage of the Cajetina municipality and with the support of Zlatibor tourist organization.

The symbolic title is bestowed in memory of the Serbian heroes fallen in the Battle of Kosovo, as the myth surrounding this event is deep in the core of the Serbian nation.

Head of Cajetina municipality Milan Stamatovic thanked the laureates for accepting the award presented to them for their outstanding achievements in various fields.

The award ceremony, featuring performers of traditional Serbian folk music, marked the beginning of the summer cultural festival on Mt. Zlatibor.
