PM: Serbia supports Bosnia's integrity

BELGRADE -- The government is implementing a policy of support and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia-Herzegovina "in the clearest way."

This is what Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić told the Belgrade-based daily Danas, when asked to comment on President Tomislav Nikolić's statement that Bosnia "hardly can survive."

"The government of Serbia has not changed its policy towards Bosnia-Herzegovina. What I have said with regard to the preservation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia-Herzegovina is a clear government policy, which is, I repeat, to support and respect the territorial integrity of Bosnia-Herzegovina, along with, of course, the preservation of the entity distinctiveness of the Serb Republic (RS) within Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Vučić, and added:

"That is the policy of the government of Serbia and it is completely clear and precise."

Asked by the newspaper "whether the statement of Nikolić about Bosnia and messages sent were contrary to the policy of the government, that is, of him as prime minister," Vučić stated:

"I said what the policy of the government of Serbia is, and that is what the government is implementing."

The newspaper carried the article on its front page under the headline, "Vučić distances himself from Nikolić's statement about Bosnia-Herzegovina."

Nikolić spoke for the RS broadcaster RTRS when he remarked that he could be neither held responsible nor guilty for what is happening in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
