First festival 'Miredita, dobar dan!' in September

BELGRADE - The central part of the festival 'Miredita, dobar dan!' founded with the aim of initiating meetings and exchange of Belgrade and Pristina cultural scene with a view to improving the Belgrade-Pristina relations, will be staged in Belgrade for the first time from September 19-21.

According to the announcement by the festival organisers including Citizens Initiative, the Belgrade-based Policy Centre and Integra from Pristina, four more events will be held in the course of the year, two of them in central Serbia and two more in Kosovo. The festival entitled 'Miredita, dobar dan!' (meaning 'How do you do' in Albanian and Serbian, respectively) should be held every year in June.

The festival aim is social, cultural and political convergence of Belgrade and Pristina.

The festival viewers will have a chance to learn more about the Pristina cultural scene, including theatre, film, music and painting.

In addition to this, public debates will be organised which will present a critical approach to the Belgrade-Pristina ties from the standpoint of the heritage from the past and the perspective of cooperation in the sectors of economy, trade, education, sports, civil sector and the like.

The festival was backed by the ZFD Forum for the Western Balkans and Foundation for Open Society from Pristina.
