Stamenkovic in Convention on Cybercrime Steering Committee
BELGRADE - Serbian experts in the fight against cyber-crime won a great international recognition at the seat of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg recently as Serbian Special Prosecutor for High-Tech Crime Branko Stamenkovic was appointed member of the Steering Committee of the Convention on Cybercrime.
The Convention on Cybercrime is the only convention in the world which regulates the fight against this type of crime.
Stamenkovic told Tanjug that he was appointed to the position at the 11th session of the T-CY Committee of the Council of Europe for monitoring the implementation of the global Convention on Cybercrime held on 17-18 June in Strasbourg.
The great support to the Serbian representative, whose mandate will last by June 2016, is a confirmation of a great trust of international experts in Serbian experts in the sphere of cyber-crime.
“This is a proof of all the efforts we have put in this area to date, including representatives of the prosecution, police and court,” he believes.
This membership will certainly ensure not only our more active participation in the operation of the Committee, but also pave the way for the greater engagement of Serbian experts in Europe and other parts of the world in training bodies for the fight against this type of crime, Stamenkovic said.
