Cooperation with Japan on trainings for disaster prevention

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister without Portfolio responsible for EU integration Jadranka Joksimovic and Japanese Senior Vice-Minister in charge of disaster management
Yasutoshi Nishimura agreed on Wednesday that the countries could cooperate with a view to training staff for prevention of natural disasters.

Joksimovic thanked for the backing that the country gave to Serbia during the severe floods in May, and underscored that Japan's financial and technical assistance in repairing the damage and putting the flood defenses in order is precious.

The Serbian minister said that she was sorry to hear of the recent natural disaster that hit Japan, the government stated.

Nishimura said that Japan will take part in the donor conference in Brussels on July 16, and emphasized that the country is ready to assist Serbia in remedying the consequences of natural disasters.
