Corlatean decides to activate Crisis cell at MAE level in support of Romanian citizens in Gaza Strip
Minister of Foreign Affairs Titus Corlatean has decided the emergency activation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) Crisis cell for granting consular assistance to Romanian citizens in the Gaza Strip, including a possible departure from the area, a press release remitted on Thursday to AGERPRES shows.
"The members of the Crisis cell, representatives of MAE and competent institutions in the field, are monitoring the situation in the area, are in permanent contact with local authorities and are undertaking all steps to coordinate on-site activities. In this action all diplomatic and consular missions of Romania in the area are involved. Additionally, the MAE headquarters has decided to send consular teams with mobile means of granting consular assistance to Romanian citizens in the Gaza Strip", MAE informs.
MAE has raised the travel alert level on July 8, 2014 for Israel and the Palestinian Territories, recommending unnecessary trips to the area be avoided.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates the notice to Romanian citizens currently in Israel and the Palestinian Territories or already heading towards these destinations to announce their presence to the diplomatic missions in the area, either through using the MAE smartphone app "Calatoreste in siguranta", or through notifying the Romanian Embassy in Israel (email: consul_romania@bezeqint.net, office_romania@bezeqint.net or telephone number 00972-54 5643279) or the Romanian Office of Representation in Ramallah-Palestine (email: romofficeramallah@gmail.com or telephone 00972 549 209152).
