Government adopts report on floods

BELGRADE -- The Serbian government adopted a report on catastrophic floods that hit Serbia in May, which will be presented at a donor conference in Brussels on Wednesday.

The government tasked the Office for Flood Affected Areas Assistance and Rehabilitation with delivering the report to the French government, co-organizer of the donor conference, said a statement issued on Tuesday.

The donor conference will raise funds for repairing the damage caused by the floods in Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The conference will be opened by EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule, Slovenian Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek, and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.

The gathering will then be addressed by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić, and Chairman of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency Bakir Izetbegović.

Donor countries, international financial institutions and relevant civil society organizations have been invited to the conference.
