Vujović is Soft-hearted as Well
REFORMS Economists Welcomed Gradual Measures of the New Minister of Finance Vujović is Soft-hearted as Well
Belgrade- Pensions and public sector salaries will be reduced by 10% since October, was confirmed to Blic yesterday.
Dušan Vujović admitted yesterday that, as acting Minister of Finance, he would not suggest different measures than Lazar Krstić. Instead of being implemented now, these same measures are, however, going to be implemented gradually, in the next three years. The story of Serbian reforms has thus got one more soft-hearted actor.
- My proposition to Government will be to reduce wages and salaries by 10%. Together with other measures, which are supposed to give their full effect by 2017, it would significantly diminish our budget deficit. In each year, the deficit would be reduced by about 60 billion RSD – explained Vujović.
Reduction of 10% would be imposed only upon the sum above the tax free part of pensions and salaries – which is 11,242 RSD.
