Ponta visits Belgrade to meet with Serbian leaders
BELGRADE - Romania's Prime Minister Victor Ponta started off his visit to Belgrade on Thursday by meeting with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic.
Vucic welcomed Ponta outside Palace Serbia.
The meeting will be followed by a plenary meeting of the two countries' delegations, the Serbian government office for media relations has stated.
Vucic and Ponta will afterwards visit Bor and meet with representatives of the Romanian population living in Serbia.
Ponta will then meet President Tomislav Nikolic, the president's office has said.
Romania supports Serbia's EU integration and the country's government in its efforts to modernise the country and conduct the reforms needed for EU integration, Ponta told Tanjug ahead of the visit to Belgrade.
One of the chief topics of the meetings with Serbian leaders will be Romania's experience in EU integration and access to EU funds, he noted.
The relations between Romania and Serbia are good, but there is room for their further improvement, particularly in economy, considering that both countries have access to different programmes and projects funded by the EU, Ponta pointed out.
