Ozone levels exceed safety limit

Ozone levels in Athens edged above the safety limit on Friday, reaching 184 micrograms per cubic meter, when the warning level is 180.

This prompted the Health Ministry to issue a warning for young children and people with breathing problems to remain indoors.

High ozone levels can cause shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, coughing, wheezing and stinging of the eyes or throat.
