Democratic Liberals approve mergers with Civic Force, Liberal Party
The National Steering College of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) has approved the merger by absorption of the Civic Force (FC), PDL leader Vasile Blaga announced after the Monday's college meeting with the participation of FC head Mihai Razvan Ungureanu.
'Following our path towards the unification of the Rightists, after signing the merger protocol with the Liberal Romania Initiative, today we have approved the merger protocol with the Civic Force; this decision will materialize in the first of PDL's conventions on Saturday, and obviously of the Civic Force,' Blaga declared.
The meeting also unanimously approved the protocol for the merger of PDL with PNL [the National Liberal Party], the statute of the new party, and its political programme.
'We are taking all these steps, as I have said, not for positions, not for the people in these parties; we are doing it to create a strong Center-Right party, which should propose a sound programme to Romanians and win all the elections to come, the presidential elections, and obviously the general elections in 2016 and the local elections. One party will have more than half of the mayors in Romania, and of course it has very strong bases to act in the future election campaigns,' declared the head of the PDL. AGERPRES
