Serbia to select Oscar contender

BELGRADE - Serbian filmmakers have until August 15 to submit their applications for the local contender at the 87th Academy Awards in the category of Best Foreign Language Film, general secretary of the Serbian Academy of Film Art and Science (AFUN) Mirko Beokovic confirmed for Tanjug.

The complete file on the selected national candidate should be forwarded to Los Angeles by October 1 at the latest.

Eligible contenders include all films that were released in the country of origin between October 1, 2013 and September 30, 2014 and screened for at least seven consecutive days in a commercial movie theater.

Serbia's Oscar candidate will be officially announced on September 3 at a ceremony in Belgrade.
