'Wiki Loves Earth' exhibition to open at New Moment Gallery

BELGRADE - An exhibition will open at the New Moment Gallery on Saturday, August 2, presenting the winners of “Wiki Loves Earth”, an international photo contest which was held in Serbia for the first time this year.

The organizer of the contest, Wikimedia Serbia, announced that the competition was open for a month and collected nearly 900 photographs by 40 participants.

The three-member jury comprising professionals from the field of photography: Assistant Director of the environment protection institute Goran Sekulic, senior associate Milorad Klickovic and photographer Dejan Vukicevic selected the best 20 photographs that will be put on display at the New Moment Gallery.

The objective of the contest was to encourage participants to give their contribution to the multimedia database of Serbia's natural heritage sites, and Serbia has registered 450 such sites.

The contest was organized by the non-governmental, non-partisan and non-profit organization Wikimedia Serbia in cooperation with the environment protection institute.

“Wiki Loves Earth 2014” is a competition aimed at collecting photographs of natural heritage sites to illustrate articles in worldwide free Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects.
