Pajtic: Gov't only concerned about itself, not citizens
BELGRADE - The Serbian government is not concerned about the citizens, but only about itself, and its intention is to "sell off all the remaining resources dirt cheap," Democratic Party (DS) leader Bojan Pajtic said on Sunday as the government marked its first hundred days in office.
"For 737 days now, (Prime Minister) Aleksandar Vucic has been changing and reshuffling his government cosmetically, while essentially pursuing the same policy of autocracy. In just two years, Serbia lost decades of future with such a government.
The purchasing power of the population is declining, pensions and salaries are being cut, while taxes and fees are rising," a DS statement quoted Pajtic as saying.
Life in Serbia is much more difficult and uncertain today, and there are no investments, the DS leader said.
"Laws are passed by urgent procedure, secret contracts conceal the fact that Vojvodina's most fertile land is being taken away from our citizens and sold to foreigners dirt cheap, while hotels and strategically important companies are being given away," Pajtic said.
"With such a damaging policy, the government will soon be without resources or citizens. It is a fact that, during its term, over 70,000 highly educated young citizens have sought citizenship in other countries, and that is a terrifying result of its rule," Pajtic concluded.
